# ⇄ Learning on your own time is a filter you did not mean to set

## What you are asking for

> "We want everyone to be able to keep learning."

But no time is set aside for it in the week.

## What the system hears

> "When can I learn, with what help, and which other work can wait?"

## What that produces

If learning only happens in the evening, you are selecting on spare time. Commutes, children, a second job, the connection or the electricity then decide who grows in your team.

Learning also happens during work: a review that is explained, an inquiry run by two people, a new task with support alongside. Recognise it and give it room, rather than adding reading hours.

An announced slot disappears as soon as the load is not adjusted. Protecting an hour of learning means removing an hour of something else. Say which.

Tools change fast, AI first of all. A team with no time to try them on its own work falls behind without noticing.

## The decision

With one person or a small group, choose a piece of learning tied to a real need, and a slot inside working hours. Say what gets pushed back, and what the slot costs: connection, cover.

A month later, look at whether the slot held and what it let people do. If it disappeared, find what ate it.

## To discuss

What work did we remove to protect an hour of learning?
