# Leadership

A builder on their own hits a ceiling. Leadership is what you make possible for others.

Two colleagues are preparing a response to a tender. One has done it before, the other is new. The first hands a whole part to the second, sets the limits, and leaves room for their choices. After it goes out, they look together at what worked.

You don't need a title for this. A review that teaches something, a whole problem handed over, a reversible decision left to someone else: it starts between peers.

And the environment you complain about, you're building it too.

**To start:** in your next review, name one specific thing to improve, and why.

**To go further:** pick a topic where you're indispensable. Make yourself replaceable on it.

**If you're growing a team:** you're the only one who sees all the work. What you reward becomes the norm. The ⇄ cards cover this.

**A sign it's working:** someone does without you what they couldn't do before, and can explain how they learned it.

**Next:** being the reference, so what you know reaches beyond the people you meet.
