# I want to back other builders

You see what builders change and you want to give them more room. Your help can be time, a tool, an introduction, a review, or visibility.

**Three cards for choosing your backing:**

1. [⇄ Learning on your own time is a filter you did not mean to set](/book/chapters/02-12-learning-on-your-own-time-is-a-filter-you-did-not-mean-to-set.html). Protect an hour of learning inside working time, and say what it replaces.
2. [A review that only says yes teaches nothing](/book/chapters/09-04-a-review-that-only-says-yes-teaches-nothing.html). Give feedback that says what you checked and why.
3. [⇄ You pay for hours, you get hours](/book/chapters/08-05-you-pay-for-hours-you-get-hours.html). Recognise the problems avoided, not only the volume handled.

**Your first piece of backing.** Ask one builder what would let them try something this month: an hour, a tool, access, a review. Give it, with a date.

**What you look at next.** What did they try? What did it change? Share what they built, with their name on it.

**A full case.** In [Six weeks to learn together](/learning-as-a-team/), Nora gives one review from another team, with a clear end. The [templates](/templates/) include a backing sheet.

Keep a card for later and come back to the [four paths](/paths/) when your need changes. To see where you stand, the [builder test](/builder-test/) gives you a level and a line of work.
