# I want to grow my team

You want the people around you to take initiative, decide and learn. The ⇄ cards are about the conditions you set.

**Three cards to start with:**

1. [⇄ The first reaction sets the rule](/book/chapters/01-08-the-first-reaction-sets-the-rule.html). Write down what people decide alone, and react to the next initiative by its intent first.
2. [Hand over the whole problem](/book/chapters/09-03-hand-over-a-problem-not-a-task.html). Give the goal and the limits, and let them propose the approach.
3. [⇄ You ask for outcomes and you review activity](/book/chapters/06-07-you-ask-for-outcomes-and-you-review-activity.html). Add the expected effect and what is observed to every important subject.

**Your first attempt.** Pick one decision that can be undone and that you still take yourself. Hand it to someone on the team, with the goal, the limits, and a date to look at it together.

**What you look at next.** On that date, look at the reasoning and the result without taking back control. Widen the frame next time.

**A full case.** [Six weeks to learn together](/learning-as-a-team/) shows a team trial, week by week, with its numbers and its decision.

For group discussions, the book also offers a [session format](/workshop/).

Keep a card for later and come back to the [four paths](/paths/) when your need changes. To see where you stand, the [builder test](/builder-test/) gives you a level and a line of work.
