A change is shipped. The next piece of work is planned, but nobody has yet chosen when or how to check its effect.
The move
Plan a check for the moment a relevant effect can be observed, with a question, an owner, and a bounded effort.
Why it works
A result can stay barely visible without anything going wrong. A team builds a dashboard and keeps adding to it, without knowing whether it helps prepare the meeting it was asked for. A check would let them confirm it is useful, or understand what is missing, before adding more work.
The right moment depends on the use. Welcome information can be examined at the next event; a monthly report waits for its cycle; a protection that is rarely called on may need a suitable exercise. A month is one possible bearing, not a rule. Waiting too long can cost, but looking too early can produce a misleading conclusion too.
Choose what deserves a review according to the risk, the cost, the uncertainty, and the decisions that will rest on it. You cannot recheck everything all the time. Maintenance and reliability count too: keeping a service running can be the expected result, even with no new visible use.
The data is not always available or reachable. Qualitative feedback, one observed case, or a check with the person concerned may be enough. Avoid collecting useless information just to fill a table. The number of times a tool is opened does not on its own say whether it helps, and a small number of users does not remove the value of an important need.
Try this
Choose a change whose result matters for what comes next. Write one precise question, for instance:
“At the next meeting, does this table help make the decision it was for? What is missing?”
Agree who can get that feedback and how much time it takes. If you hand the project on, have that check accepted by whoever takes over; it should not stay with you by default.
On the chosen date, note the result, or the absence of enough information. Decide to keep, change, remove, or check another way, with the people who can make that decision.
